VIOLIN LESSONS
Music is about much more than taking weekly lessons and practicing at home. When students join the studio, they become part of a lively community of friends who encourage each other and have fun making music together. All students in Ivy Strings Academy participate in weekly private lessons, biweekly group classes, and two recitals per year. In addition, students are encouraged to take advantage of community-building opportunities throughout the year, such as play-ins at local retirement homes, studio potlucks, etc.
Comfort is a Suzuki teacher and primarily teaches classical violin, as she believes it provides a solid technical foundation that prepares students to play in a wide variety of musical contexts. She also supplements with repertoire from other genres including fiddle and popular music, and helps students explore basic improvisation. She encourages students to dig deeper in other styles of music that pique their interest. For more information about the Suzuki Method, see the About the Suzuki Method page.
